Shows a semithin section of the gill arch of the Ruby-Red-Fin Shark, also known as the Rainbow Shark (Epalzeorhynchos frenatum), which belongs to the Teleostei: Cyprinidae family. The gill arch epithelia consists of various cellular kinds. Goblet cells exhibit a high concentration of metachromatic mucus production. The pavement cells exhibited apical striations, which corresponded to microvilli. Telocyte-like cells, indicated by the arrow, comprise the boundary of the lymph space (L). Lymphocytes, indicated by double arrowheads, and granular leukocytes, indicated by arrowheads, are present in the lymphatic space. Note Basal epithelial cells (b)
